Our Story
The Overdorf organization began over 50 years ago when the founder Richard Overdorf saw a need for individuals and small businesses to have a coordinated team of financial advisors. Richard had been a teacher for nine years and decided to leave that profession to start his own business teaching financial planning concepts to clients and developing the "team of advisors" concept. As Richard became well known as an insurance and investment advisor he strongly encouraged his two sons to become a CPA and an attorney. Right on que his oldest son Bret became a CPA and his son Scot became an attorney. You could say he was "growing the team”.
The "third son" Bruce Cain became influenced as he attended Financial Planning sessions for his parent's and grandparent's farm corporations in the 1980's. Bruce joined the "team" as an Insurance Agent in 1992, and in 1995 became a Registered Representative. He is now a principal and in charge of the Financial Services arm of Overdorf Financial Services.
Richard was born and raised on a farm. Through the years those roots in agriculture became a focal point of the business. The Overdorf organization has become a household name in many farming communities throughout Indiana and western Ohio. Their unique approach to listening and developing succession plans that satisfy the unique risks involved in agriculture has set them apart.
